Rijeka - Jelačić Square - 7.30 a.m.
Opatija - Slatina - 8.00 a.m.
Through Istria, sometimes called 'Croatian Tuscany', we'll be driving toward Pula or precisely to the town Fažana, which is situated 10 kilometers from Pula. From Fažana departures the ship, which transports us to the Veli Brijun Island. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Veli Brijun Island ('The Big Brijun') is the biggest of 14 islands and the only one open to visitors during the whole year. It's 'smaller brother' Mali Brijun Island ('The Small Brijun') welcomes guests only during the few summer months and only as visitors to famous Ulysses Theatre.
On our arrival at the island, we'll take the small tourist train with the park's official tourist guide and explore some of the sights of the island. We'll also hear some interesting stories about its history as well about its famous visitors. The train ride takes about 1 hour. After return to the start position you can take a walk around the island, visit some of Brijuni's museums or, what Fantasia Travel truly recommends, rent a bike and take a ride to some more distant parts of the island. Don't miss the Byzantine Castrum, one of the most significant artefacts in National Park, which is unfortunately not part of the 'tourist route'.
At 2 p.m. at the pier, we'll take the boat which will bring us back to Fažana.
From Fažana, we will go back to Rijeka and Opatija. Expected arrival is in afternoon hours.
